The USDA is once again trying to force electronic/radio frequency identification for livestock animals on farmers and homesteaders across the United States. Not only is this program expensive, burdensome, intrusive, and the like… it will drive more small and independent farmers and processors out of business, furthering the consolidation of an already 85% + consolidated meat industry in the United States.
Farmers and officials across the nation have been warning about the dangers of programs like this for years,
Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY). “This will allow the government to build a registry, which is the first step needed to ban cattle in accordance with the Left’s anti-agriculture climate policies. Congress should stand up for American farmers and ranchers by blocking the electronic ear tag rule.”
Representative Jason Smith(Mo.). “Sadly, this is just another example of Washington bureaucrats trying to dictate how America’s ranchers – the best in the world – should run their operation. In addition to raising strong privacy concerns, this mandate will also force ranchers to waste precious time and resources filling out mountains of paperwork and purchasing expensive equipment to avoid hefty fines.
In Ireland, about a year after the introduction of EID, the government tried to force farmers to cull 41,000 cattle from the nation’s small farm base! They didn’t succeed, but their actions showed just how accurate Hageman, Massie, and other’s warnings about the program are!
Here is how you can help your farmers, homesteaders, and access to real food and real meat.
- Contact your Representative and Senators, and ask them to support Congresswomen Harriet Hageman’s. Easily find your elected officials here HJR167 in the House and SJR98 in the Senate. The House bill is especially important to support!
- Join us at our Rogue Food Texas, Come and Tag It! conference Nov 8th and 9th in Dallas-Fort Worth.
- If you have animals, join us in massive noncompliance and let the USDA know you won’t comply. If you have a farmer, let them know you will fully support them in not complying! Processor associations, homesteaders, farmers, and others are all willing to simply not comply with the continued destruction of our farmers and food supply – join us in just saying no to animal ID!
Together, we can AGAIN stop RFID and the loss of small farmers to run amok government regulation.
